BIG DRAWING TIME

I am very happy with myself i've started my biggest drawing to date, it's a 2m x 1.5 m work, here it is maybe halfway done I have since started adding colour fluro pink orange, rusty metalic and lead are my flavours. I'm not happy with the photo but pencil is a very tricky medium to photograph.

some screw loose characters coming along in postcard format .

more screws loose

Here are some of the sewing machine parts starting to take a nice comunist style square layout, whilst they wait for their turn to be utilised. You will see two characters shown at centre back is the human with big ideas, with a huge magnififying glass on his head and on the left the screw loose square arm character, kind of dog like but rather laiden down as is the state of out moded technology.

the top of the installation is shown below.

a screw loose or screw loose mentality.

a screw loose

side arm A NEW PALETTE power cord easy off need to make a use of the light later when i
have freed the power cord and source. screws long short chunky. little
little screws lost in the mechanical inside. metal plate 1/4 - 1.

A to K dial. plastic cover for motor. THIS IS NOT A MACHINE MADE TODAY I AM
STILL DISMANTLING THE VICTORIA Detmold.sssssssprings hold arms unscrewed and
useless, they don't spring now they flop. i see characters, with square splint like limbs and spiral tails.

pistens minature for the needle, clunk screw taken out. release more mechanisms. how many parts can i make work seperately. hunting. flipping the machine right left upside down. backwards to go forwards. screws to unscrew. release fan belt. no. undo motor cover first. it could be a shelter. another plate looks like a ramp for a Bauhaus villa.

the machine may now be considered useless. to some it was deemed useless due to one screw and maybe a washer coming loose. what a screw loose mentality. here is my response installation.

wall series

I was playing with the idea of a nono tent in Paris, a temporary place built for all the crazy adult miscommunication and frustrations around us in the atelier....so the nono made me laugh. Now I have found fabric like the reb, blue, white $2 shop storage bags and started building walls for us to partition spaces at frohsinnberg.

I have also started a wall using my old friend the cardboard box. I really love the quality of recycled card and so up goes a hanging wall. I have played with tea bags, string and blinds in the space and now alittle extra encouragement from a meeting with a sculpture who is interested in the space and spoke of building walls to keep her dust in, oh fantastic it's the perfect opportunity for me to create another cardboard sculpture....the keyhole view is side on through the layers of cardboard. My work has been looking at voids as a representation of ways to move from dark to light emotionally and the way temporary structures are relied upon to hold up old wonky walls and the differences v's new construction site scaffolding.

everything everywhere everyone

the cycle continues. i am working on this drawing thanks to the lovely mesh nets... they are still here i can use them for art before i recycle them. 'everything is coming from everywhere, so where is everyone' might be written like this in Deutsche "alles komant davon uberall, deshalb wo ist jeder".... might not be either.

pockettree wearables are back

I have turned my naughty second hand nahmaschine (sewing machine) purchase into a kinetic light sculpture, well it's prognosis is much better as a sculpture than as a machine that sews, it worked perfectly when i tested it and luckily bargined a third of the price off but i guess a screw wobbled out as On yau and I walked it home for six blocks.

But yesterday we invested in a new nahmaschine which came with a fabulous demo all in German, I said a lot of Ja's and looked puzzled several times...mainly because I couldn't believe how simple and cost effective it is...i mean the old machines have 3-4 dials to change tension, length, type of stitch etc..now only one dial, no extra handles or doors that open for light bulbs to be fitted it's easy 1 plastic mold.

I love the old machines and treasure the one I have in about 200 parts in my studio, some have turned into inspiration for drawings and other the kinetic sculpture I mentioned before, better than be tossed aside...the shop didn't even want the machine for free, not even the power cord, I have never liked the concept of throw-away-consumerism.

Sooooooooo ... pockettree wearables are back, I whipped together a recycled tee design which has been in my head for a few months, awaiting the machine to bring it together. If you are interested in placing an order for a one-off recycled pocketree designed classic tee let me know.

Colour coded art, they reycle my old art material here!

I am trawling my folio in preparation to get my full creative folio back up on line, and I have just I stumbled across my colour coded mesh fungi series, 'white, red, green', made from the fruit and veg packaging mesh ..... I now have great pleasure in being able to recycle this material which I used as a medium in 2004 as a means to cope with the issue of excess waste. Maybe Australia will recycle these one day soon. In Germany, well Berlin, 95% of all packaging seems to gets recycled, my rubbish bin is lonley, how fantastic.
